Collaboration and Reporting
Description
This initiative began as an exercise about how to best inform ITS' leadership about meetings, progress, and collaborations it evolved into a vital conduit for information sharing. ET has gone through several stages: an RSS feed into a secure, authorized channel in the Penn State Portal; use of cLog to create a group Weblog and RSS feed to an RSS aggregator (/e.g./ Mozilla Thunderbird); and USENET threaded discussions into a USENET reader/aggregator (/e.g./ Mozilla Thunderbird).
At the present time, USENET threaded discussion groups are being used. Each solution is afforded approximately six months of a trial period, stressing ease of content creation and usefulness of the ensuing discussion. Success will be achieved when a method exists to support the many different styles with which our IT community communicates.
